Overview
If you notice that Instagram comments appear visible in Meta's inbox even though Brandwise shows them as hidden, this is due to a known bug with Meta's platform. The comments are actually hidden from public view—Meta's inbox simply displays them incorrectly.
This issue affects Instagram comments specifically. Facebook comments display their hidden status correctly in Meta's inbox.
Why this happens
When third-party apps like Brandwise hide Instagram comments, Meta's inbox doesn't always update the display status properly. Even though the comment is successfully hidden from the post, Meta's interface may still show it as visible.
This is a glitch on Meta's side that has persisted for several months despite being reported.
Verify comments are actually hidden
To confirm that comments hidden by Brandwise are truly hidden from public view:
Open an incognito or private browser window
Navigate to the Instagram post where the comment was left
Look for the comment in question
Expected result: The comment will not be visible to the public, confirming it's properly hidden despite what Meta's inbox shows.
You can also check the comment status directly in your Brandwise inbox. If it's marked as hidden there, it's truly hidden from public view on Instagram.
What you should do
No action is required on your part. When Brandwise marks a comment as hidden:
The comment is successfully hidden from public view on Instagram
Only the commenter and their followers/friends can see it
Meta's inbox may incorrectly display it as visible, but this is only a visual bug
Trust the status shown in your Brandwise inbox rather than Meta's inbox for Instagram comments. Brandwise accurately reflects whether comments are hidden or visible.
